Woops, I went shopping…

What’s new? I’ve been shopping and there’s a dent in my bank account. It was a quick trip into Adelaide, so quick that I spent almost all my shopping time dragging my brother through the Myer complex and making him sit in Mecca while I drooled over Nars. Anyway! If you’re interested I’ll give you all a quick run down on what I got and my thoughts so far, I’m sure I’ll do a proper review once I’ve become more familiar with the products.

First things first, I’ll get the only non-beauty related product out the way. I got this gorgeous knit from General Pants Co for only $45 which was originally $89.95. I was pretty impressed with that little bargain especially since I missed out on most of the Boxing Day and New Years Sales. Although it won’t be out to proper use now as where I live we’ve been fighting 40 degree heat in the recent days (apart from today where it started bucketing down with rain), I know that it will get to proper use during winter and when I travel to Europe at the end of the year.

Next is my favourite purchase of the day, Nars Sheer Glow foundation and pressed powder! For the past couple of years I’ve been wearing high coverage, thick make up to hide my skin that is definitely not the greatest. But whilst doing that, it’s only making it worse. After watching lots of my favourite beauty channels on YouTube I decided to try out Sheer Glow as I’d seen Zoella use it so many times. It doesn’t have as much coverage as what my True Match does but I love it already. It feels so light on the skin and is so easy to build in just my problem areas. To cover any blemishes that I have I just use my Napoleon Pro Palette concealer with my finger to dab onto my spots, this melts the concealer into the skin to blend it in more. Then just dusting a small amount of the pressed powder on my face gives that tiny little bit of extra coverage. Whilst I was getting matched by one of the attendants in Mecca she told me that the Sheer Glow foundation is actually designed to be applied with the hands which I found so odd since I’m such an anti hands applier when it comes to foundation but if any of you have the Sheer Glow foundation it would definitely be something to try out.

I got the Sheer Glow foundation in ‘Gobi’ and the Pressed Powder in ‘Siberia’, then I also got a pump for the foundation. The foundation was $59 and powder was $64 whilst the pump was only $4 all at Mecca Cosmetica.

I also quickly popped into Lush and picked up some bath bombs. I got ‘Butterball’ and ‘Honey Bee’, they both smell so sweet. I have a thing with Lush where I love to collect the bath bombs but don’t want to ever use them because they smell gorgeous and look cool, although they do look even better in the bath.

Aside from my purchases in Adelaide, on Wednesday I got my hair done and picked these up whilst I was at the hairdressers. These little hair ties are amazing for your hair, they don’t leave any lines in your hair if you have it up and then put it down and they minimise breakage. They come in packs of three, I opted for the clear pack for my now even blonder hair. Once you’ve been using the same invisibobble for a bit it stretchs out so you rotate onto the next one and in no time at all it’s brand new again unlike normal hair ties which once they’re stretched, they’re gone!

I hope you all enjoyed my purchases, I’m sure there will be more soon,

Helloooooo everyone! Yet again, it’s been quite a long time, things have been hectic, again.

I think something that I need to make sure of in the new year is to make time for the things that I like to do (like this) as well as my other day to day things like work. My main new years resolution for 2015 is to do things for me and not for anyone else. I am the kind of person who is constantly worrying about others opinions on the things that I do that it’s just beyond ridiculous. For example, I worked my butt off to save up for a new car but then felt bad for thinking of selling my old one (I think watching Cars the movie as a child made me believe that cars had real feelings). But why should I really be so worried over that and what others opinions would be, I worked hard for a reason. I then realised that the people around me the most and who were the most highly influencial over me were moving on and doing things for themselves as well. Not that I was ever neglected or put to the side, I just realised that I am the one in charge of my own happiness and can’t rely on others for the answers to this. I started this new frame of mind part way through December but have made it my main new years resolution so that I’m made to stick to it. My other resolutions include to do well in the first year of university (absolutely smashed year 12 with an amazing result, very proud that the effort was well worth it) and to become more independent leaving the nest and living by myself in the big smoke (wouldn’t call Adelaide the big smoke but close enough is good enough, eh?), and lastly to save all my pennies for an overseas trip to Europe at the end of the year, hopefully getting to swing past Japan on the way to visit my host family from two years ago.

Extremely sadly this was my most decent picture taken on New Year’s Eve, never the less I’ll still give you a rundown on the outfit and make up!

it’s been quite a while…

Wow! I’ve been gone for so long! School has been so hectic but I’m finally done! Millions of assignment, mountains of study and four exams later Maths, English, Nutrition and Biology have been completed. Now I just have to let everything lay in fates hands to hope it all works out for my plans next year. Until then though, apart from working I’ll have a lot of spare time on my hands which seems completely foreign to me. So in this time I’ll be relaxing, catching up on all my favourite shows, reading all the books I’ve put aside to read by the time I finished this years study, and of course updating my blog! Soon I’ll have a review on all of my latest products and a look to put up, apart from that feel free to request and I’ll be up for it! And also, very exciting news! This weekend I get to meet the man himself, Napoleon Perdis at an exclusive event, cannot wait! Hopefully I’ll have lots of new tips, tricks, looks and products to share with you all after!

my holy grail products!

Hi guys! Today I’m going to be discussing the products that I can’t live without. These are products that are apart of my everyday routine that I’ve been using for quite a while now and have gone back to buy replacements of my empties because I love them that much!

I use this product everyday underneath my make-up. I literally cannot even explain my love for it! I was always trying out new foundations, primers, moisturisers etc. to make my foundation stay on all day. My skin is quite oily so my make-up always tended to look patchy by the end of the day. I did use the Maybelline Superstay foundation, it did a better job than past foundations but still not quite good enough alone. And then I found Mac’s Oil Control Lotion. It’s a moisturiser that I put on before my primer and it controls my skin all day, I could wear the same make-up from 9am until 9pm without requiring a touch up, it’s just that good. I bought this product in the “sized to go” travel size because it’s such better value for money. It costs $15 (AU) for 30ml compared to $52 (AU) for 50ml, basically 50 cents per ml versus $1 per ml. So far this 30ml bottle has lasted me over ten weeks and I’ve still got product left, it’s a must have!

Next is the Loreal True Match foundation and as cheesy as it sounds, it is my true match. I’ve never had a foundation that matches my skin so well and is long lasting on my face as well. I use this product in W1 Golden Ivory, which I believe is the lightest shade. I discovered this foundation by watching Lauren Curtis’s Youtube videos, so I went and picked it up and was amazed. I remember when I put it on that night before I went out, I was so proud of my make-up I thought it was perfect. Lets be honest, you can never be happy with your overall look if you don’t have the perfect base.

Loreal’s Infallible foundation would be my next pick after Loreal True Match. I use this foundation in shade 130 True Beige. Just like the Maybelline Superstay that I used to use it also claims to last 24 hours. This foundation has a thicker consistency than what True Match does so I find that I need to use just a little bit more to cover my whole face. My only issue with this foundation is that I wish it came in a shade only a slight bit lighter than 130 but darker than 120. It has only been brought out recently so as it gets more popular it is likely that they could release more colours.

Next is Maybelline Define-A-Lash Mascara. I have quite short lashes but this really emphasises what I have. The short bristled, long brush extends the length of lashes but it adds just enough volume as well. I have tried other mascaras that are designed to make lashes longer and thicker such as the Maybelline Falsies but it always tended to make my lashes clumpy no matter how many layers I did, which this mascara doesn’t do. It’s a must have!

My favourite product ever, Mac Pure Zen Lipstick. I obviously have to really love it if I’m willing to spend $36 on a product. It’s the ultimate nude pink colour. I wear it everyday that I go to work or if I’m going out somewhere. The only day that I won’t wear it is to school because I find it unnessescary to wear too much make-up to school…and I’d rather make it last as long as possible! If you’re looking for a colour to give your lips a bit more life or want to purchase a Mac lipstick and don’t know where to start, Pure Zen is the way to go.

The Biore Blemish Clearing Scrub is the best facial scrub that I have ever used and I’ve tried a lot! As you rub the beads into your face you can feel it heating up, it’s like you can feel it working. It is a complexion clearing scrub so if you suffer from acne or breakouts it is perfect to control or maintain them. I used a whole bottle (tub, I’m not even sure what to call it) and like I usually do decided to try out something else. Big Mistake. My skin was terrible during the time that I changed scrubs and once I re-purchased this one my skin cleared up and became more controlled. This scrub only cost around $10 in Australia depending on where you go and lasts a few months, keeping skin under control very well. I love it!

dic-26516-3After I wash my face or remove my make-up I always tone my skin using the T.N. Dickson’s Witch Hazel. This toner has been around for ages and is so cheap (around $6 in priceline). It has a very strong and I suppose less than appealing smell but it’s amazing. It tones skin really well and reduces redness and the appearance of blemishes incredibly! It’s so cheap, such good value and does an amazing job, you’d be crazy not to get it!

I hope this post might benefit some of you, remember to like this post and follow me if you want to see more! Next post I will be sharing a haul on all the products I’ve bought recently and a quick little review, keep checking in to keep posted!

introducing me!

Welcome to my blog, thank you for checking it out!

My name is Kayla and I have an addiction to make-up. I’m a fanatic, the amount of money I spend on it could be classed as unhealthy but it’s what make me happy so, why not?! If you haven’t already gathered my blog is going to mostly be made up of make-up, beauty and skin care related posts but also anything to do with life in general or anything that any of you would like me to cover! This first post is not make-up related however and is instead a self introduction, so here goes…

As I’ve already said, my name is Kayla. I’m currently seventeen years old and at the peak of my schooling with only three weeks left of year twelve and then final exams (probably not the greatest time to start a blog but there has to be a break somewhere, right?). I live in country South Australia which sadly means a lack of access to the products that I’m obsessed with (Mac, Benefit, Nars etc.), but I suppose it also saves my bank account given the fact of how insanely over priced these products tend to be in Australia. I have two jobs at the moment (to cater for my large amount of spending, oops), I work as a waitress and also as a pharmacy assistant. Because I also work in a pharmacy I find that I’m also surrounded by make-up at work and I love helping anyone out that comes in, sometimes choosing some beginners make-up for younger girls just starting to wear it or the perfect colour for a little old lady. I first started wearing make-up when I was in year eight and they were some terrible days…Just taking any foundation that I found in the bathroom and absolutely caking it on with my hands despite the colour being way too dark for my skin. I’m glad to say now that after a few years of searching I have finally found my perfect colour match and many holy grail products that I just cannot live without, but these will be discussed in a future posts I am sure.

I decided to start a blog because I decided I really needed somewhere to vent and to express myself that was my own. Not in a conversation with friends where sometimes they’d tend to have no interest or would rather be infatuated with their own lives. I really love having things that are my own and I’m excited to start this blog because of that.

I’ve always really loved writing, in fact I had thought of journalism as one of my possible careers if I could not get into the health industry. All throughout my schooling I’ve exceeded in my writing and expressing myself, I thoroughly enjoy it. Once I hit year twelve this all changed. I chose the harder English because I knew I was capable and really, I suppose it dented my ‘ego’. It is my only regret of year twelve. My themes and ideas that I chose to base my work around never seemed right and I could never identify the key ideas to put into my essays about books, poetry or plays that I didn’t really care about. I found that having to write an essay became more of a drag rather than an excitement for me getting to create something of my own. Whenever someone writes something it is their own. No one else has written it into those exact words before and I find that to be really special, so that’s exactly what I am here for. To share a few of my passions; make-up, beauty, skin care and expressing these through my own eyes. I really hope that if you’re reading this you will watch my blog and keep posted on my journey and that maybe I can help you along the way!

Love Kayla x.
